N.C. Department of Justice Environmental Sustainability Report

North Carolina Department of Justice
Environmental Sustainability Report

The North Carolina Department of Justice (DOJ) provides legal and law enforcement services to state agencies, local governments and the citizens of North Carolina.

Since early 1999, DOJ has been a cooperative agency with other state agencies in developing and implementing environmental sustainability projects.

In March 1999, each DOJ employee was contacted concerning the importance of incorporating
environmental sustainability principles into their work ethic and daily activities. The DOJ Environmental Division was directed to lead the agency's efforts. A strong commitment was made to work closely with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and its Division of Pollution Prevention and Environmental Assistance. This was a natural partnership, since DOJ provides the legal representation for DENR and its divisions.
