The Ministry of Health and the autonomous communities have agreed this Wednesday, within the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System, to reduce the capacity of football stadiums in LaLiga Santander, to a maximum of 75% and those of events in closed venues, such as basketball games, to a maximum of 50%.
This was announced by the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, at the press conference after the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System, where she explained that it has been agreed to lower the capacity of 100% to the 75% in stadiums of First and Second Division of the National League of Professional Soccer.
This decision reduces to those percentages the maximum authorized spectators in the matches of the Football League, which resumes this weekend after the Christmas break, and that of basketball, which has already postponed several meetings scheduled for this week.
It also includes measures to avoid crowds of the public both at the entrances and at the exits of these events. The autonomous communities may, in turn, further reduce the number of fans in the venues if they consider it appropriate.
The Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, detailed at the end of the meeting with the autonomous communities that in addition to the maximum limits for capacity, the use of a mask will be mandatory and that smoking, eating or drinking will not be allowed. Darias appealed for spectators to comply with these measures and also advocated that the public who attend is preferably local to avoid mobilizations.
This Wednesday, just three months ago, the favorable evolution of the pandemic led to the green light for the one hundred percent occupation of the soccer fields and 80% basketball pavilions, with the endorsement of 16 communities and the abstention of the Basque Country. Then a mandatory mask was required, a ban on smoking, eating or drinking during matches, except for water, and the safety distance of 1.5 meters also required in football stadiums was ended. EFE
