The Provincial Municipality of Callao approved granting a series of benefits and discounts for the payment of infractions and traffic tickets, in order to offer a reduction of debts to citizens in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The commune explained that the amnesty will come into effect from December 6, 2021 to January 4, 2022. The discounts are up to 80% of the amount of the debt. In addition, those who pay their violation until December 19 will have an additional 10% discount.
According to municipal ordinance No. 012-2021, the discounts will be applied for the reduction of administrative debts generated by traffic violations that have been raised in Callao until December 31, 2020, with differentiated discounts according to the period to which the infringement.
The Chalaca commune also announced that there will be a benefit of temporary reduction of the debt generated by the guardianship fee, by internment of the vehicle in the municipal deposit, provided that they have been interned until October 31, 2021.
The municipal regulation specifies that for those traffic violations raised until December 31, 2016 “a discount equivalent to 80% of the amount of the unpaid debt will be applied.” While for those traffic violations raised between January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2018, a discount of 60% of the debt will be applied.
Those offenses imposed between January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020, a discount will be applied according to the following:
For infractions to National Traffic Regulation Code M-17 and M-20 (speeding) will be a discount of 50% of the amount of the debt. Likewise, all remaining infractions to the National Traffic Regulations, with the exceptions, a discount equivalent to 30% of the amount of the debt will be applied.
In all cases, when the debt is in collection by coercive means, in addition to the aforementioned benefits, a 50% discount will be applied on the procedural costs and administrative expenses that have been generated.
The Municipality of Callao specified that the discounts for the commission of infractions to the National Code Transit Regulations ballots M-1, M-2, M-3, M-4 and M-5.
The provision also indicates that the aforementioned benefits will not apply to those persons who initiate the debt prescription process within the validity of said ordinance.
Nor will it apply to cases in which the debt for the fines is in the coercive route and the bank has communicated the existence of funds from the debtor in favor of the Provincial Municipality of Callao.
Finally, as an exceptional benefit for a period of 180 calendar days, a discount of up to 99% will be applied for the custody rights in favor of the owners whose vehicles are in the municipal depot.
