Case closed: Barcelona decides the future of Ter Stegen after departure rumors

After the elimination of FC Barcelona in the group stage of the Champions League, at the hands of Bayern Munich, Marc-André Ter Stegen became one of those marked by defeat. The German goalkeeper was harshly criticized for his role at the Allianz Arena and even some media reported that his days at Camp Nou were numbered, that the top brass were tired of his unreliable performances and even selling him was valued. However, as the days go by, the international man with the Mannschaft has regained the confidence of the leadership and his continuity is assured.

According to the Catalan newspaper Sport, Ter Stegen has been told that he is an untouchable player in the Barça dressing room and that in no way, no matter how good they are, will they hear offers for him. Recently, the Barça star was linked to Bayern Munich and Chelsea.

“FC Barcelona has already communicated to Marc-André Ter Stegen its non-transferable status. Although the economic and sporting situation of the Barça team continues to be serious, both the managers and the new coach Xavi Hernández consider that the German goalkeeper is essential to get the team back on track ”, publishes the cited source.

“Barça does not contemplate in any way the departure of the former Gladbach. Furthermore, Marc-André is considered a key part of the new project, a condition that is granted to very few other players (Araujo, Gavi, Nico, Pedri and Ansu, among them) ”, adds.

It should be remembered that Marc-André Ter Stegen arrived at Barcelona in mid-2014 from Borussia Mönchengladbach for 20 million euros. He started as a substitute for Chilean Claudio Bravo and over the years he got the job. After confirming his trust, ‘Teri’ has much more time left at Camp Nou.

In fact, the German, valued at 55 million euros, according to the Transfermarkt portal, renewed his contract with Barcelona until mid-2025, securing an important chip in the coming years. Among his most important titles is the 2015 Champions League.
