Curfew in Lima and Callao will be from 11:00 pm to 4:00 am

After it was confirmed that Peru faces a third wave of COVID-19, the Government ordered that the social immobilization schedule (curfew) in Lima and Callao will begin at 11:00 pm and will end at 04:00 am the following day.

Both jurisdictions will pass a high health alert level, as announced today by the Minister of Health, Hernando Cevallos, at a press conference.

The start date will be made official through a decree that the Presidency of the Council of Ministers will publish in the following days.

“They go from moderate to high alert: Ica, Pisco, Cusco Cajamarca, Jaén, Piura, Sullana, Talara, Trujillo Pacasmayo, Chiclayo, Santa, Puno, Lima, Huaura, Callao, Bagua, Chachapoyas, Tacna, Huancayo, Satipo Mariscal Nieto, Ilo and Tumbes “, said the Minister of Health, Hernando Cevallos during the PCM press conference.

On the other hand, the use of private vehicles Sundays will not be prohibited. In this way, the Executive continues to present new provisions after an evaluation by the Ministry of Health (Minsa) and other sectors within the framework of new measures that citizens must comply with in the context of the new coronavirus pandemic.

It is worth remembering that the actions taken by the Executive are evaluated and updated every two weeks; However, after on Tuesday, January 4, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) announced that Peru is facing a third wave of COVID-19, the authorities are taking new measures to mitigate the increase in cases, hospitalizations and deaths due to this disease.

The last Supreme Decree No. 186-2021-PCM, the Government extended the national state of emergency for a period of 31 calendar days, starting on January 1, 2022, due to the circumstances facing the country due to COVID-19.
