Distillate-based cocktails to celebrate the national month in Peru

July is the national month and this 2021 is even more special because the Bicentennial of the Independence of Peru is celebrated. There are those who think of the traditional dishes of the Peruvian gastronomyWhile others do not rule out the option of toasting with a pisco sour or trying new cocktail options. This is where a premium artisanal sugar cane distillate and select botanicals is a great alternative.

Jorge Cantuarias, CEO of Destilería del Perú, shares some practical recipes to prepare at home using “Nuna Origen”, a premium artisan Peruvian distillate that contains zero sugar and is low in calories and “In whose aroma and flavor you will feel every corner of our beautiful land.”

1. Nu-groni

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 Oz. of Nuna Origin
  • 1 oz. by Campari
  • 1 oz. by Vermouth Rosso
  • Ice
  • Orange peel

preparation:

  1. Incorporate all the ingredients in a cocktail glass and mix. Add ice and stir until well blended and cold.
  2. Pour the content into a glass with ice cubes or a solid cube. Lightly squeeze the orange peel over the cocktail and leave it inside.

2. Nuna tonic

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. of Nuna Origin
  • Tonic water
  • Cubed ice
  • Citrus skin

preparation:

  1. In a balloon glass filled with ice, pour the distillate and complete with the tonic water.
  2. Lightly squeeze the skin of the fruit and leave it inside.

3. Nuna Mule

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. of Nuna Origin
  • Ginger beer
  • 1/2 Oz. lemon juice
  • Crushed ice
  • Lemon wedge (decoration)

preparation:

  1. In a copper mug filled with crushed ice, pour the distillate and complete with the ginger beer and lemon juice.
  2. Decorate and enjoy.

4. Nuna Folclor

Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 Oz. of Nuna Origin
  • 1 oz. pineapple juice
  • 3/4 oz. Gum syrup (if it is natural juice)
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Ice to taste
  • Huacatay leaves (decoration)

preparation:

  1. Put ice in a short glass.
  2. Add the distillate, lemon juice, and gum syrup and mix.
  3. Complete with pineapple juice and garnish with huacatay leaves.

5. Nuna Passion

Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 Oz. of Nuna Origin
  • 2 strawberries cut into quarters
  • 2 sprigs of basil
  • 1/2 Oz. lemon juice
  • 3/4 of Gum Syrup
  • Cubed ice
  • 3/4 oz. Gum syrup
  • Ice
  • Fresh basil branches (decoration)

preparation:

  1. In a shaker add the strawberries and basil.
  2. Add the syrup and lemon juice and crush with a mortar until fully integrated.
  3. Add the distillate and stir generously.
  4. In a glass with crushed ice pour the content. Garnish with basil.
