Lima, March 7, 2022Updated on 03/07/2022 09:39 am

As of today, Monday, March 7, seven feeder routes of the Metropolitan stopped circulating due to a failure by the authorities to pay the subsidy given to concessionaire companies for operating with restrictions during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

Through Twitter, the Urban Transport Authority (ATU) for Lima and Callao explained that the feeder buses on the northern route that will no longer provide the service are: Santo Domingo, Los Olivos, Miracle of Jesus, Payet, Tahuantinsuyo. While in the south direction they are: America and Próceres.

Due to the suspension of the service, several users have been affected, some even mentioned to Latina that they were not aware that some feeders would no longer operate as of Monday.

“I was not aware. I don’t know how I’m going to get there.”said a citizen. “I come from Los Olivos. He didn’t know much about what was going on today. The taxis were full and I had to take an app to get here.” detailed a young man.

SUSPENSION ANNOUNCED

Through a statement from the Association for the Promotion of National Infrastructure (AFIN), the operating companies of the road system explained that the measure is given due to non-compliance with financial reimbursement that has been registered since December 2021 and that has been repeated in the last year.

(We announce) the progressive suspension of the service of the Metropolitano feeders from Monday, March 7 in the face of new breaches by the State – from the month of December 2021 – to timely apply the reimbursement of the additional and reasonable direct costs incurred in the provision of the service, as established in the concession contract”, it reads.

In June and December 2021, the group of companies that operates the Metropolitano decided to suspend the service of the feeder routes due to non-compliance with the payment of compensation for operating during the COVID-19 state of emergency.
