Ministry of Health reports 20 deaths and 1026 new infections of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported that Today, Thursday 16 December, a total of 202,076 people died from the COVID-19. With this number, the death toll from the deadly virus in Peru rose by 20. In addition, it reported that infections increased by 1724 (1026 in the last 24 hours), so the total number of infected people reaches 2’260,180.

The Minsa also reported that there is a total of 2,981 hospitalized patients, of which 943 are on mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Vaccines in Peru

To date, Peru has received more than 25 million vaccines from Sinopharm, more than 27 million from Pfizer, and more than 4 million from AstraZeneca. All these are applied according to the programming by age groups established by the Government after vaccinating with priority health personnel, older adults and members of the National Police, Armed Forces and Firefighters.

Immunization in Peru began in February, after the arrival of the first batch of vaccines from China (Sinopharm). To date, vaccination continues throughout the country. In Lima, Callao and regions, people aged 12 years and over are immunized.
