Europe continues to suffer from the ravages of COVID-19 and footballers cannot escape that situation. This Monday, FC Barcelona confirmed positive cases of coronavirus from Dani alves and Clement Lenglet, one day after the summons for the resumption of the group’s work.
“Clement Lenglet and Dani Alves have tested positive for COVID-19 and will not join the Joan Gamper Sports City tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. The players are in good health and isolated at home. The club has informed the competent authorities ”, the entity detailed in a statement on social networks.
The Frenchman’s case had already been advanced by the newspaper Ara in previous hours. However, Lenglet was joined by the experienced Brazilian athlete, after the rest period given to the squad for the Christmas celebrations.
The Barça team, without Alves or Lenglet until further notice, will begin to prepare to face their first game in 2022, scheduled for this Sunday, January 2. The rival will be Mallorca, within the framework of the nineteenth round of the Spanish league.

In the case of the Spanish league, the most affected team has been Real Madrid, which ended up presenting a total of eight cases before the Christmas festivities. Now, Espanyol has presented a total of seven cases, with five being positive in the squad and two infected in the coaching staff.
