This Sunday one of the most striking matches at the beginning of 2022 will be played and, not only will it be at the football level, there will also be an artistic moment. This is because the artist Mark Ríos will be in charge of revealing the name of the ‘Man of the Match’ for the final of the Spanish Super Cup between Real Madrid vs. athletic club through a drawing.
The well-known ‘Mr. Dripping’ will announce the best player of the match through a drawing with the face of the footballer who will be chosen by the coach of the Spanish National Team, Luis Enrique.
The portrait will be done on the very grass of the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, located in Saudi Arabia, with the help of football boots and with an artistic technique based on dripping, inspired by the abstract expressionists.
Ríos admitted that he was excited to be the one chosen to paint the portrait of the highlight of the Spanish Super Cup final. “I always have that point of nerve and emotion, but luckily I have learned to control it. I am confident that I will do well and people will like it”, explained the artist to the media of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
It should be noted that, in the semifinals, this artist also drew the players who received this award. In the Real Madrid vs. Barcelona, the chosen one was Karim Benzema; while the duel between Athletic Club vs. Atlético de Madrid, Iker Muniain was the highlight. Unlike the final ‘Mr. Dripping’ made a stylized figure of the soccer players.
