“We have goals to meet”: Head of Immunizations of the Minsa asks technical teams to continue vaccinating

The head of immunizations Ministry of HealthGabriela Jiménez, asked the technical teams to continue advancing with the vaccination against COVID-19 in the country, despite the current situation in that sector after the appointment of the new minister Hernan Condori.

In a video broadcast on his social networks, Jiménez called for calm and recalled that the country is in an important health moment because to date there is a decrease in the curve of coronavirus cases in the middle of the third wave of the pandemic.

He recalled that 87,000 people died in the first wave of the pandemic, almost 115,000 in the second, while 7,261 deaths have been recorded in the third wave. Along these lines, he indicated that these differences in figures constitute a “Obvious and very clear positive effect of vaccination”.

When recounting immunization in the country, he explained that there are 23.5 million people vaccinated with two doses against COVID-19, 8.7 million with three doses, and 1.2 million children from 5 to 11 years old with your first dose.

“Therefore, comrades, we have to continue advancing in this important activity scheduled on weekends, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. We have goals to meet and we can’t stop for the population, for the children, for the reintegration of health, education and economic reintegration. We can’t stop, we have to keep moving forward.” Gabriela Jiménez said in a video posted on her Facebook account.

Likewise, Jimenez urged regional governors and regional health directors to continue not only with the vaccination process against COVID-19 but also with the regular immunization schedule, which includes vaccines against different diseases.

“Now we have to show that, despite the difficulties, we are the technical team. Let us remember that the vaccination It is the country’s main health strategy, despite the shortfall in the number of brigades: we now have 2,600 on the coast, mountains and jungle when in reality 6,000 are needed″.
